NYC food stamps and cash help
Apply Anyway is an unofficial guide for New Yorkers who need food stamps (SNAP) or cash assistance. We are not the City. We do not file your case. We do not ask for your Social Security number.
The official door is ACCESS HRA. Use the website or the ACCESS HRA app. If you apply for Cash Assistance there, HRA also looks at SNAP. You can also apply for SNAP only.

ID, kids, lease or landlord letter, pay. Then upload in the City app.
ACCESS HRA
Account, app, uploads, status. We cannot see what you type there.
Apply for both
One Cash Assistance application can also screen SNAP.

Expedited SNAP can take about 7 days. A pantry is for tonight.
Letters if you have no stubs
Boss, landlord, friend pays rent. Fill in, then upload on the City app.
